Product Description

The Valcambi CombiBar 100 x 1g Gold Bar holds 100g of 999.9 fine gold as a single card that breaks by hand into one hundred separate 1g bars. It is VAT-exempt as investment gold in the UK.

About the Valcambi CombiBar

Valcambi is a Swiss refiner based at Balerna and accredited by the LBMA. The CombiBar is its best-known product: a scored sheet of gold that separates cleanly into 1g pieces, each stamped with its weight and fineness.

You can keep the card whole and sell it as a 100g bar, or break off single grams as you need them. Each piece stays recognisable and saleable on its own.

Why divisibility matters

A standard 100g bar has to be sold in one piece. The CombiBar lets you release a gram at a time, which is useful if you want gold you could use in small amounts rather than a single large holding. You pay for that flexibility in a higher premium than a plain 100g bar.

Bars or coins?

Bars carry a lower premium than coins, so you get more metal for your money. Many buyers hold both, using bars for bulk and coins for the portion they expect to sell at a profit.

Why buy a Valcambi CombiBar 100 x 1g Gold Bar?

The CombiBar is the most divisible gold product we sell. It suits buyers who want the low cost of bar gold but the flexibility of small units.

It also makes an unusual gift, since a single gram can be separated from the card without tools.

Why buy gold bars?

Gold bars can be a cost-efficient way to buy gold by weight. Because there is no design work or annual issue behind them, the premium over the metal price is lower than on coins, and it falls as the bar gets larger. Bars from LBMA-accredited refiners with an intact assay card and serial number are widely recognised by established bullion dealers. In the UK they are VAT-exempt as investment gold.

Frequently asked questions

How do I separate the 1g pieces?

The card is pre-scored, so the pieces snap apart by hand. No tools are needed.

Does breaking the bar reduce its value?

Each 1g piece is stamped with its own weight and fineness and remains saleable, though dealers may pay slightly less per gram for separated pieces than for the intact card.

Is the CombiBar VAT-exempt?

Yes. It meets the UK definition of investment gold, so no VAT is charged.
