Metalor 50g Gold Bar

SKU: AU-BAR-METALOR-50G Category:

Product Description

The Metalor 50g Gold Bar contains 50g of 999.9 fine gold from Metalor, one of Switzerland’s longest-established refiners. It is VAT-exempt as investment gold in the UK.

About the Metalor 50g Gold Bar

Metalor was founded in 1852 and is based in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. It is accredited by the London Bullion Market Association, whose Good Delivery standard governs the bars traded in the professional market, and it is one of the LBMA’s small group of appointed referees, the refiners that test the work of others.

This bar is supplied in a sealed assay card showing its weight, fineness and serial number, so its provenance can be checked at a glance.

Moving from coins to bars

Buyers often start with coins and move to bars as their holdings grow. A 50g bar holds about the same gold as one and a half Britannias at a lower premium, though it gives up the Capital Gains Tax exemption that UK coins carry.

Assay packaging and serial numbers

Metalor’s minted bars are sealed in a tamper-evident CertiCard showing the weight, fineness and a unique serial number. Keeping that packaging intact matters: an unopened card makes a bar faster to verify and easier to sell.

Why buy a Metalor 50g Gold Bar?

The 50g bar is where premiums become genuinely competitive, and it is a popular size for buyers moving from coins to bars.

It holds more gold than a 1oz bar in a single unit, at a lower cost per gram than the smaller sizes.

Why buy gold bars?

Gold bars can be a cost-efficient way to buy gold by weight. Because there is no design work or annual issue behind them, the premium over the metal price is lower than on coins, and it falls as the bar gets larger. Bars from LBMA-accredited refiners with an intact assay card and serial number are widely recognised by established bullion dealers. In the UK they are VAT-exempt as investment gold.

Frequently asked questions

How does a 50g bar compare with 1oz?

A 50g bar holds about 1.6 troy ounces of gold, so it is a larger unit at a lower premium per gram.

Will I get the same bar I see pictured?

Bars are supplied from stock, so serial numbers differ, but the brand, weight and fineness will match the listing.
