PCGS Certified 2024 Tudor Beast Dragon 1/4oz Gold Coin
Product Description
The PCGS Certified 2024 Tudor Beast Dragon 1/4oz Gold Coin contains a quarter of a troy ounce of 999.9 fine gold, carries the fifth Royal Tudor Beasts design and has been graded and sealed by PCGS. As UK legal tender with a £25 face value, it is exempt from Capital Gains Tax for UK residents and VAT-exempt as investment gold.
The PCGS 2024 Tudor Beast Dragon 1/4oz Gold Coin design
The quarter-ounce coin carries the full Tudor Dragon design by David Lawrence, shield, wings and chain mail background compressed into 22mm.
Martin Jennings’ portrait of King Charles III is on the obverse.
The chain mail background
Each beast sits on a background that resembles chain mail. The pattern carries surface animation, so it shifts as the coin is tilted: a nod to Tudor armour that also works as a security feature, because the effect is hard to reproduce.
PCGS grading of the 2024 Tudor Beast Dragon 1/4oz Gold Coin
A graded fractional Dragon lets collectors match the 1oz coin in their set without the same outlay.
PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) is an independent grading company that authenticates coins, grades them on the 70-point Sheldon scale and seals them in a tamper-evident holder. Bullion coins are graded in Mint State (MS), and the label shows the coin’s date, denomination, grade and a unique certification number that can be checked on the PCGS website.
The grade of the coin supplied is the one stated on its PCGS label. Images are for illustration and grades may vary, so please contact our team if you would like a specific grade.

Why buy a PCGS 2024 Tudor Beast Dragon 1/4oz Gold Coin?
The certified quarter-ounce Dragon offers the series’ best-known beast in verified condition at a lower price than the 1oz.
It holds 7.78g of fine gold and keeps full UK tax advantages.
Why buy 1/4oz gold coins?
Quarter-ounce coins are a middle step for buyers who want more than a tenth of an ounce per coin without committing to a full ounce. They make regular purchases more manageable and give you finer control when selling, since you can release a small part of a holding. The trade-off is a higher premium per gram than larger coins, so they suit flexibility more than bulk buying.
Frequently asked questions
Why do collectors grade fractional gold coins?
Small coins are easy to mark in handling, so a sealed holder protects both the surfaces and the coin’s identity.
Is the Tudor Dragon the same as the Welsh dragon?
They share an origin in the red dragon of Wales. On the Moat Bridge the beast is known as the Tudor Dragon.
