The PCGS Certified 2025 The British Lion 1/4oz Gold Coin holds a quarter of a troy ounce of 999.9 fine gold, carries the first-year British Lion design and has been graded and sealed by PCGS. The PCGS 2025 The British Lion 1/4oz Gold Coin design
The quarter-ounce coin carries David Lawrence’s full design on a 22mm coin: the seated lion and shield, the LEO BRITANNICVS legend and the Union Flag surface animation.
King Charles III appears on the obverse in Martin Jennings’ portrait.
A national emblem
The lion has been a royal emblem since the 12th century, and three lions still fill two quarters of the Royal Arms. The British Lion bullion range, launched by the Royal Mint in 2025, gives this national symbol a coin of its own.
PCGS grading of the 2025 The British Lion 1/4oz Gold Coin
Certification gives this first-year fractional coin the same independent record of condition as the 1oz.
PCGS, the Professional Coin Grading Service, is a widely used independent coin-grading service. It verifies that a coin is genuine, assigns a grade on the 70-point Sheldon scale and encapsulates it in a sealed holder. Bullion coins are graded Mint State, abbreviated MS, with 70 the highest possible mark.
The grade of the coin supplied is the one stated on its PCGS label. Images are for illustration and grades may vary, so please contact our team if you would like a specific grade.

Why buy a PCGS 2025 The British Lion 1/4oz Gold Coin?
The certified quarter-ounce British Lion offers the debut design and a PCGS grade at a lower cost than the 1oz.
It is a good way to add a graded British Lion to a collection without committing to a full ounce.
Why buy 1/4oz gold coins?
Quarter-ounce coins are a middle step for buyers who want more than a tenth of an ounce per coin without committing to a full ounce. They make regular purchases more manageable and give you finer control when selling, since you can release a small part of a holding. The trade-off is a higher premium per gram than larger coins, so they suit flexibility more than bulk buying.
