PCGS Certified 2025 Lion and Eagle 1oz Gold Coin
Product Description
The PCGS Certified 2025 Lion and Eagle 1oz Gold Coin contains one troy ounce of 999.9 fine gold with King Charles III on the obverse, and has been graded and sealed by PCGS. As UK legal tender with a £100 face value, it is exempt from Capital Gains Tax for UK residents and VAT-exempt as investment gold.
The PCGS 2025 Lion and Eagle 1oz Gold Coin design
The second bullion year of John M. Mercanti’s design keeps the British lion and American eagle side by side, celebrating the relationship between two countries that have so often stood together.
Martin Jennings’ portrait of King Charles III is on the obverse.
Two national symbols
In heraldry the lion has stood for strength and courage since medieval times and appears on the arms of English monarchs. The bald eagle became a national symbol of the United States in 1782, when Congress adopted it for the Great Seal. Mercanti’s design gives each animal its own space while uniting them in a single scene. The Royal Mint issues the coin as The British Lion and American Eagle.
PCGS grading of the 2025 Lion and Eagle 1oz Gold Coin
A graded 2025 coin continues a certified Lion and Eagle set after the 2024 first year.
PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) is an independent grading company that authenticates coins, grades them on the 70-point Sheldon scale and seals them in a tamper-evident holder. Bullion coins are graded in Mint State (MS), and the label shows the coin’s date, denomination, grade and a unique certification number that can be checked on the PCGS website.
We supply the coin at the grade shown on its holder. Because grades differ from coin to coin and the images are illustrative, please ask before ordering if a specific grade matters to you.

Why buy a PCGS 2025 Lion and Eagle 1oz Gold Coin?
The PCGS 2025 coin is the second date in a graded Lion and Eagle collection.
It gives investors CGT-exempt gold with an independent guarantee of authenticity.
Why buy 1oz gold coins?
The one-ounce coin is the standard unit of the gold market. Because gold is priced per troy ounce, a 1oz coin’s metal value is simple to follow, and the larger size usually carries a lower premium per gram than fractional coins. Compared with a large bar, a holding of 1oz coins can still be sold a coin at a time, so you keep flexibility without paying fractional-coin premiums.
Frequently asked questions
Why buy a graded Lion and Eagle rather than an uncertified one?
Grading confirms authenticity and condition and protects the coin. If you only want gold content, the uncertified coin usually carries a lower premium.
What does the eagle represent?
The bald eagle has been a national symbol of the United States since 1782, when it was adopted for the Great Seal.
