PCGS Certified 2026 Lion and Eagle 1oz Gold Coin
Product Description
The PCGS Certified 2026 Lion and Eagle 1oz Gold Coin is a one-ounce Royal Mint coin in 999.9 fine gold featuring the British lion and American eagle, graded and sealed by PCGS. It is UK legal tender with a £100 face value, exempt from Capital Gains Tax for UK residents and VAT-exempt as investment gold.
The PCGS 2026 Lion and Eagle 1oz Gold Coin design
2026 is the third dated release in the Lion and Eagle bullion range and introduces a new reverse by artist Jonathan Olliffe, who brings the British lion and American eagle together in a fresh composition.
The obverse carries Martin Jennings’ portrait of King Charles III.
Two national symbols
In heraldry the lion has stood for strength and courage since medieval times and appears on the arms of English monarchs. The bald eagle became a national symbol of the United States in 1782, when Congress adopted it for the Great Seal. Olliffe’s design gives both national symbols equal prominence in a single scene celebrating the relationship between the United Kingdom and United States.
PCGS grading of the 2026 Lion and Eagle 1oz Gold Coin
Certifying a 2026 coin records its condition at the time of grading and brings a graded Lion and Eagle set to three years.
PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) is an independent grading company that authenticates coins, grades them on the 70-point Sheldon scale and seals them in a tamper-evident holder. Bullion coins are graded in Mint State (MS), and the label shows the coin’s date, denomination, grade and a unique certification number that can be checked on the PCGS website.
The grade of the coin supplied is the one stated on its PCGS label. Images are for illustration and grades may vary, so please contact our team if you would like a specific grade.

Why buy a PCGS 2026 Lion and Eagle 1oz Gold Coin?
The PCGS 2026 coin adds the third dated Lion and Eagle release to a graded set, while also marking the introduction of Jonathan Olliffe’s new reverse.
Its sealed holder protects the soft 24-carat surfaces, while the coin keeps its UK tax advantages.
Why buy 1oz gold coins?
The one-ounce coin is the standard unit of the gold market. Because gold is priced per troy ounce, a 1oz coin’s metal value is simple to follow, and the larger size usually carries a lower premium per gram than fractional coins. Compared with a large bar, a holding of 1oz coins can still be sold a coin at a time, so you keep flexibility without paying fractional-coin premiums.
Frequently asked questions
Is the 2026 Lion and Eagle VAT-exempt?
Yes. It is 999.9 fine gold UK legal tender, so it qualifies as VAT-exempt investment gold.
Should I keep the coin in its PCGS holder?
Yes. Removing it breaks the seal and the coin would no longer be certified.
