PCGS Certified Chinese Panda 30g Gold Coin
Product Description
The PCGS Certified Chinese Panda 30g Gold Coin contains 30 grams of 999 fine gold, issued by the People’s Bank of China, and has been graded and sealed by PCGS. It is VAT-exempt as investment gold in the UK.
The PCGS Chinese Panda 30g Gold Coin design
The Temple of Heaven in Beijing appears on the obverse, while the reverse shows a giant panda in a design that changes each year. That annual change has made the Panda one of the most collected bullion coins in the world.
Why 30 grams rather than an ounce
From 2016 China moved the Panda from troy ounces to metric weights, so the coin that had been one ounce became 30 grams, slightly less gold than a troy ounce. Every 30g Panda therefore dates from 2016 or later.
PCGS grading of the Chinese Panda 30g Gold Coin
With a new design every year, collectors often buy Pandas graded so that the date, design and condition are all recorded on the label.
Grading by PCGS means the coin has been examined by an independent third party, confirmed as genuine, given a grade from 1 to 70 on the Sheldon scale and sealed in a tamper-evident holder. The printed label records the issue and the grade, and its certification number can be looked up on the PCGS website at any time.
Dates vary with stock: the year of the coin you receive is shown on its PCGS label. Please contact our team if you are looking for a particular date.

Why buy a PCGS Chinese Panda 30g Gold Coin?
The Panda combines bullion gold with a collectable design that is different every year, and a graded coin records which one you own.
Its 30g size sits just under an ounce, a useful step between fractional coins and full ounces.
Why buy 30g gold coins?
A 30-gram coin holds almost as much gold as a one-ounce coin, so it carries a similar premium per gram while staying a single, easily traded unit. Its metal value is simple to work out from the gold price per gram.
Frequently asked questions

China changed the Panda to metric weights in 2016, replacing the one-ounce coin with a 30-gram coin.
