PCGS Certified Australian Kangaroo 1oz Gold Coin
Product Description
The PCGS Certified Australian Kangaroo 1oz Gold Coin contains one troy ounce of 999.9 fine gold from the Perth Mint and has been graded and sealed by PCGS. It is VAT-exempt as investment gold in the UK.
The PCGS Australian Kangaroo 1oz Gold Coin design
The Perth Mint’s gold bullion coin has carried the kangaroo since 1989, after its first issues featured gold nuggets. Unusually among the major bullion coins, the gold Kangaroo receives a new reverse design each year, so every date shows the animal differently.
A design that changes each year
Because the reverse changes annually, each date of the Kangaroo is a distinct design. The obverse carries the reigning monarch: Queen Elizabeth II on earlier dates and King Charles III on coins from 2024.
PCGS grading of the Australian Kangaroo 1oz Gold Coin
With a different design every year, a graded Kangaroo lets collectors record both the date and the condition of each coin they add.
PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) is an independent grading company that authenticates coins, grades them on the 70-point Sheldon scale and seals them in a tamper-evident holder. Bullion coins are graded in Mint State (MS), and the label shows the coin’s date, denomination, grade and a unique certification number that can be checked on the PCGS website.
Dates vary with stock: the year of the coin you receive is shown on its PCGS label. Please contact our team if you are looking for a particular date.

Why buy a PCGS Australian Kangaroo 1oz Gold Coin?
The annual design change gives the Kangaroo more variety than most bullion coins, and a graded example is a good way to collect it date by date.
It is still a full ounce of 24-carat gold from one of the world’s best-known mints.
Why buy 1oz gold coins?
The one-ounce coin is the standard trading unit of the gold market, so its value is simple to follow against a gold price quoted per troy ounce. Premiums per gram are lower than on fractional coins, and a holding of 1oz coins can be sold one coin at a time rather than in one piece like a large bar. World bullion coins in this size are recognised by dealers everywhere, which helps when you sell.
