PCGS Certified Austrian Philharmonic 1oz Gold Coin
Product Description
The PCGS Certified Austrian Philharmonic 1oz Gold Coin contains one troy ounce of 999.9 fine gold from the Austrian Mint and has been graded and sealed by PCGS. It is VAT-exempt as investment gold in the UK.
The PCGS Austrian Philharmonic 1oz Gold Coin design
Thomas Pesendorfer’s designs celebrate the Vienna Philharmonic: the great organ of the Musikverein’s Golden Hall on one side and a group of orchestral instruments on the other. The design has been unchanged since the coin was launched in 1989.
A coin about music
Rather than a monarch or a national animal, the Philharmonic shows the instruments of an orchestra, including a Vienna horn, bassoon, harp and violins. Coins dated before 2002 carry a face value in Austrian schillings; later coins carry €100.
PCGS grading of the Austrian Philharmonic 1oz Gold Coin
The detailed instrument design shows marks easily on soft 24-carat gold, so a graded coin keeps its condition protected.
PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) is an independent grading company that authenticates coins, grades them on the 70-point Sheldon scale and seals them in a tamper-evident holder. Bullion coins are graded in Mint State (MS), and the label shows the coin’s date, denomination, grade and a unique certification number that can be checked on the PCGS website.
Dates vary with stock: the year of the coin you receive is shown on its PCGS label. Please contact our team if you are looking for a particular date.

Why buy a PCGS Austrian Philharmonic 1oz Gold Coin?
The Philharmonic is Europe’s best-known gold bullion coin, and its wide 37mm format shows off the design well in a graded holder.
It gives you a recognised coin with independent confirmation of its authenticity and grade.
Why buy 1oz gold coins?
The one-ounce coin is the standard trading unit of the gold market, so its value is simple to follow against a gold price quoted per troy ounce. Premiums per gram are lower than on fractional coins, and a holding of 1oz coins can be sold one coin at a time rather than in one piece like a large bar. World bullion coins in this size are recognised by dealers everywhere, which helps when you sell.
