The PCGS 2025 Tudor Beast Greyhound of Richmond 1/4oz Gold Coin design
At 22mm, David Lawrence’s greyhound and its shield fill the reverse, against a Tudor-inspired background with surface animation and the coin’s weight and fineness around the rim.
King Charles III appears on the obverse in Martin Jennings’ portrait.
The greyhound and the Earldom of Richmond
The white greyhound came to the Tudors through the Earldom of Richmond, the title held by Henry VII before he took the throne. Swift and loyal, it was one of the beasts the Tudors used to advertise their descent, and it also appeared in the earlier Queen’s Beasts series.
PCGS grading of the 2025 Tudor Beast Greyhound of Richmond 1/4oz Gold Coin
Certification is a straightforward way to keep a small gold coin in the condition it was struck, with its grade recorded on the label.
PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) is an independent grading company that authenticates coins, grades them on the 70-point Sheldon scale and seals them in a tamper-evident holder. Bullion coins are graded in Mint State (MS), and the label shows the coin’s date, denomination, grade and a unique certification number that can be checked on the PCGS website.
Grades vary between individual coins. You will receive the coin at the grade printed on its label, and product photographs are illustrative rather than of the exact coin. Contact our team if you need a particular grade.

Why buy a PCGS 2025 Tudor Beast Greyhound of Richmond 1/4oz Gold Coin?
The certified quarter-ounce Greyhound suits collectors completing a graded set of the later Tudor Beasts designs.
It holds 7.78g of fine gold and keeps the CGT exemption of UK legal tender gold.
Why buy 1/4oz gold coins?
Quarter-ounce coins are a middle step for buyers who want more than a tenth of an ounce per coin without committing to a full ounce. They make regular purchases more manageable and give you finer control when selling, since you can release a small part of a holding. The trade-off is a higher premium per gram than larger coins, so they suit flexibility more than bulk buying.
Frequently asked questions

A real animal, unlike the yale, unicorn and dragons in the same collection.
How big is the quarter-ounce coin?
22.00mm across and 7.80g in total, with 7.78g of fine gold.
