Product Description

The PCGS Certified 2025 Royal Arms 1oz Gold Coin holds one troy ounce of 999.9 fine gold with King Charles III on the obverse, and has been graded and sealed by PCGS. It is UK legal tender with a £100 face value, exempt from Capital Gains Tax for UK residents and VAT-exempt as investment gold.

The PCGS 2025 Royal Arms 1oz Gold Coin design

This is the final year of Timothy Noad’s original Royal Arms design, a rendering of Elizabeth II’s Coat of Arms used on the series since 2019. The lion and unicorn flank the quartered, crowned shield on a radial-lined field.

The obverse carries Martin Jennings’ portrait of King Charles III.

The end of the original design

For 2026 the Royal Mint updated the reverse to show the Tudor Crown of King Charles III’s Coat of Arms, so a graded 2025 coin records the condition of the final date of the original version.

PCGS grading of the 2025 Royal Arms 1oz Gold Coin

Certification records the condition of this closing-year coin and protects it in a tamper-evident holder.

Grading by PCGS means the coin has been examined by an independent third party, confirmed as genuine, given a grade from 1 to 70 on the Sheldon scale and sealed in a tamper-evident holder. The printed label records the issue and the grade, and its certification number can be looked up on the PCGS website at any time.

The grade of the coin supplied is the one stated on its PCGS label. Images are for illustration and grades may vary, so please contact our team if you would like a specific grade.

Why buy a PCGS 2025 Royal Arms 1oz Gold Coin?

The certified 2025 Royal Arms is the natural final coin for a graded 2019 to 2025 set of the original design.

It combines that collector interest with a full ounce of CGT-exempt gold.

Why buy 1oz gold coins?

The one-ounce coin is the standard unit of the gold market. Because gold is priced per troy ounce, a 1oz coin’s metal value is simple to follow, and the larger size usually carries a lower premium per gram than fractional coins. Compared with a large bar, a holding of 1oz coins can still be sold a coin at a time, so you keep flexibility without paying fractional-coin premiums.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 2025 Royal Arms the last of its design?

Yes. The Royal Mint has said 2025 is the last year of Noad’s Elizabeth II Arms design on the bullion range.

Is a certified Royal Arms coin still CGT-exempt?

Yes. Certification does not change its status as UK legal tender, so gains are exempt for UK residents.
